by APRIL HERRIDGE READ

I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis , im only 44 and lead a fairly healthy lifestyle, iam going through early menopause but surprised to read on a website that being on the depro contraceptive injection long term could be a risk...... really angry i was not informed of the risks before.... especially when ive told them many times early menopause runs in the family.!!!!

Now it makes me think that all the other health problems such as osteoarthritus and other issues i have with my joints could all be related!.... no other female in my family have had any problems. :-(

MAKES YOU WONDER WHAT WE ARE PUTTING INTO OUR BODIES!!!

just diagnosed at age 38!

I too have just been diagnosed at age 38 with osteoporosis and have been a long term user of depo provera and wasn't warned that it was a real risk.

I am very angry also and am trying to come to terms with it all. Any other women out there taking Depo Provera I urge you to stop immediately!

Discuss the future with your doctor
by: Richard Ryland

I am sorry to see you are having problems. In theory the risks to Deprovera should have been explained at the time you commenced treatment. But in any case it is usually helpful to look up treatments on the Internet just in case you have not been fullinformed. For many women Deprovera is a very good choice of treatment. Now you need to sit down with yoour family doctor and examine your options.
