50 + and overweight

by Isabelle
(Manchester)

As a child I was chubby but as I progressed into teenage years I became normal, at 5'7" all through my adult life i wavered between a 12 and 14 UK dress size. Weight and diets never entered my agenda. I was moderately active not so much in any specific sport but loved swimming and regularly went on long walks and hill climbing.

Then I hit 50......Nightmare. I am now a size 16 and for the first time in my life I have a belly. I hate it and I hate the way I look and feel.

I have tried dieting but I guess because I have never had to diet before I am finding it hard and not sure what to eat.

Please help me :(

Dear Isabelle,

My heart goes out to you.

I am afraid that losing weight after 50 becomes an on-going battle for many of us. I have the same battle and the answer is to change the way you eat rather than dieting - and exercise, exercise, exercise.

Try implementing some of the tips in this page:

http://www.age-well.org/weight-loss-tips.html

There is a link there to a product called Meritol which i tried recently. It helped as both my sister and law and I wanted to lose weight quickly, but her son's girlfried, who is in her 20s, tried it at the same time as we did and she lost a lot more weight than either of us. I think this is because we are already eating a well-balanced diet with little fat in it. This product gets rid of excess fat you might have eaten. I won't explain how here because I've created a page:

http://www.age-well.org/advanced-weight-management.html

which does the job.

I am presently putting together a page reviewing different weight loss products. There are not many there at the moment, as i really want to test the products myself or have someone (or preferably several people) i trust do this in order to give my visitors genuine advice.

The page of reviews is here:-

Another program you might consider trying is AloeVera Detox Program followed by NutriLean. I have done a page on the Detox Program but haven't got the results back yet from the person testing the NutriLean follow-up program. The page on the Detox Program is here:-

http://www.age-well.org/aloe-vera-detox.html

and there are links to where you can obtain both products in the right hand column of that page. I'll let you know here when i have done a page on NutriLean (it won't be before a few weeks though when i get the results in).

The good thing with the Aloe Vera products is that you get a full money back guarantee which really works.

If you don't like buying on-line, you might also go to your local health food shop and buy some Spirulina - which also helps to lose weight.

Don't forget to drink plenty of water. This is really important for a lot of things and is something i struggle with myself.

If you need someone to coach you in your weight loss i can also give you some moral support.

Hope all this information is helpful.

Take care and let me know how you go.

Mary
